Last week saw the launch of the GROW Academy, WebGrowth had the privilege to be a part of history and launch in partnership with Silulo Technologies, Woothemes, RLabs and GivenGain. The objective for the week was to introduce the 20 students to digital marketing. The bootcamp allowed them to get a greater knowledge of the digital arena and to equip them so that they are able to enter the digital market place. The academy came into being because of the common realisation between the founding companies that there is a lack of skills in the South African digital market place and that there are many willing unemployed people who just don’t have access to high quality education. The 20 young students gathered in Khayelitsha to listen and learn practical skills taught by the various team leaders from each company.
I presented on SEO and although it was a lot of content to take in in one day, the students responded well with many realising how important SEO can be to a business wanting get more exposure online. I’ve inserted my powerpoint presentation on “Understanding the Engines & Building Successful Sites” to get a better understanding of what we covered in the morning session. The session just before lunch and after lunch covered practical tips as to how to optimise your website.
