History

The story so far…

April 2006:

Neil Pursey, current owner and founder of WebGrowth, stumbles upon SEO while wondering how he can market his real estate website on the internet.

September 2006:

WebGrowth is founded by Neil Pursey. Neil begins researching SEO and builds a simple website at webgrowth.co.za, from which he carries out his testing. At this stage Neil is still running his own real estate company.

March 2008:

WebGrowth gets their first client, it is a freebie and a favour for a friend. It turned out to be a major success..

May 2008:

WebGrowth gets their first paying client.

August 2008:

Neil decides to leave the real estate industry and works on WebGrowth’s growing SEO client portfolio full time.

August 2009:

WebGrowth implements a database system to capture industry related link building data for their growing list of clients.

January 2011:

After months of development and planning, WebGrowth launches Project SEO to the South African market. A project management tool for SEO agencies and businesses wanting to do SEO in house.

June 2011:

WebGrowth partners with 4 other companies (Woothemes, Silulo Technologies, RLabs and GivenGain) to start an education course focusing on uplifting the IT skills shortage in South Africa. The initiative is called the GROW Academy. The first ‘Bootcamp’ was launched in Khayelitsha, on 27 June 2011.
